Try This Morning Routine to Reduce Anxiety

Nothing feels worst than waking up and having a body full of anxiety. As small business owners, side hustlers, or full-time entrepreneurs the idea of facing another day of the unknown is scary. For the best 17 years, I have been practicing the same morning routine to help reduce my anxiety and start each day focused on showing up as my best self.

Here are 5 Easy Tips that you can implement into your morning routine tomorrow that will change everything.

1. Wake Up Early

One of the most difficult but beneficial habits to form. You know the old saying:

If you win the morning, you win the day.

Well, they are kinda right? One way to win the morning is to be present in it. The benefits of waking up early do not only impact productivity, its benefits lie in your physical, mental, and emotional states. Going to bed on time and waking up early improves the quality of your sleep by letting you complete each stage of your sleep cycle. The results? A happier and more energized you.

2. Make Your Bed

Of course, getting up early every day isn't the easiest thing, but as you drag yourself out of those comfy sheets, one way to feel more ready is to make your bed. A messy bed is inviting but as you fold your sheets and dust your pillows- there’s no going back! You’ve already achieved your first win of the day.

3. Plan your Day

The absolutely BEST way to reduce anxiety is to plan what you can. Life be lifing so we can't control everything, but what we can control is our schedule. Waking up earlier gives you more opportunities to be more productive. Create a list of everything you have to do - I mean absolutely everything in your head. Then using your day scheduling page add no more than 5 of these tasks to your schedule for the day. Monotasking helps reduce stress and anxiety allowing you to be able to CARPE DIEM!

4. Hydrate

Before you take a sip of your non-negotiable iced coffee, remember that the first thing your body needs is water. This clears all the toxins from your body and is shown to improve metabolism and immunity and give your radiant skin. Don’t believe me? Well, the internet does not lie check out this amazing article I found on the benefits of just adding a sip of water to your morning routine.

5. Movement

Be it a 10-minute walk or hopping on your Peloton, movement is an essential function we have as human beings. This also improves the circulation of blood and provides energy throughout the day. A good exercise session early in the morning can improve metabolism, help control appetite, and is the first step towards maintaining an active lifestyle… most importantly it can reduce anxiety. It’s not even about what you do, but you have to do something. Moving your body first thing in the morning is often the HARDEST TASK OF THE DAY.
